Add up your score as you go through either in your head or on a piece of paper and see below what your final score indicates.

Risk Factors

  1. Have you taken antibiotics for longer than a month or more than once a year?If so, score 5

  2. Have you had a high-sugar diet, now or in the past – even as a child? Or have you ever lived through a high level of stress? If so, score 5

  3. Have you ever had a high alcohol intake, or taken drugs? If so, score 5

  4. Have you ever had any steroidal treatments – pills, injections, creams, inhalers? (For women, this includes the contraceptive pill or hormone therapy). If so, score 10

 

Present Symptoms Score 1-3

Score 1 point per line if any or all of the symptoms are occasional or mild.

Score 2 point per line if any or all of the symptoms are frequent or moderately severe.

Score 3 points per line if any or all of the symptoms are really severe or disabling.

  1. Depression, anxiety, irritability, mood swings.

  2. Poor memory, lack of concentration, feeling spacey or unreal.

  3. Fatigue, lethargy, feeling drained.

  4. Indigestion, heartburn, food intolerance, bloating, intestinal gas.

  5. Constipation, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, stomach ache, mucus in stools.

  6. In women: Premenstrual syndrome, period pain or irregularities, infertility, endometriosis, loss of sex drive.

  7. In men: Prostate problems, infertility, impotence, loss of sex drive.

  8. In women: Vaginal burning, itching, discharge.

  9. In men: Irritation of groin or genitals.

  10. Muscle aches and weakness, joint pain or stiffness.

  11. Eczema, psoriasis, rashes, itching.

  12. Athlete’s foot, ringworm, fungal toenails.

  13. Cravings for sweet foods, chocolate, alcohol, bread.

  14. Sensitivity to perfume, chemical smells, petrol fumes, tobacco smoke.

  15. Any symptoms made worse on damp days or in mouldy places.

  16. Dizziness, loss of balance, recurrent ear infections, deafness.

  17. Insomnia, waking unrefreshed, drowsy during the day, need for excessive sleep.

  18. Body odour, bad breath.

  19. Sores in mouth, sore throat.

  20. Nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, sinusitis.

  21. Pain or tightness in chest, wheezing or shortness of breath.

  22. Urinary frequency, urgency, burning.

  23. Spots in front of eyes, burning or watery eyes.

  24. Easy bruising, chilliness, cold hands and feet.

  25. Headaches, migraines.

  26. Numbness, burning, tingling, lack of coordination.

  27. Irritation around anus.

 

Total score 75-100: There is little doubt you have yeast infection.

Total score 50-75: You very probably have yeast infection.

Total score 25-50: You quite possibly have yeast infection.

Total score 0-25: Count yourself blessed – but watch your step!
